New Sida grant for a capacity development study

– Published 10 December 2018

The Division of Risk Management and Societal Safety has received a grant of SEK 940 000 from Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) to conduct a 13-month study with a network of Swedish public agencies to explore the current thinking of and approaches to their capacity development support abroad. The project, titled SPACAP, has a strong utility and collective-learning focus. It aims to provide a critical account of the agencies’ capacity development framings, theories of change, current and emerging practices, opportunities and challenges that underpin their partnership with sister authorities inside and outside the EU. SPACAP will present concrete recommendations at the end of the study to help shape future directions for Swedish public agencies to support implementation of Global Agenda 2030. An inception workshop was held in Stockholm on 5 December 2018, which brought together 16 participants from 10 pubic agencies and re-aligned the study’s scope with the participants’ expectations.
