With support from the World Bank and Tetra Tech, the Government of Malawi has developed an advanced system to trigger the scale-up of its social cash transfer program to help protect food-insecure households from droughts. The team developed a structured approach to identifying response windows to maximize the impact of shock-responsive social protection. The approach and its results have been published by the Disaster Risk Finance and Insurance Program of the World Bank in a “Technical Analysis to Inform the Trigger Design for Adaptive Safety Nets to Respond to Climate Shocks in Malawi.
